Elizabeth Chaglasian

Elizabeth Chaglasian, of New Britain, died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the widow of Carl Chaglasian who died in 1979. Born in New Britain, she was a long-time New Britain resident and was a life-long member of the First Church of Christ. During World War II, Elizabeth worked at P.F. Corbin Manufacturing. She later owned a Hat Shop in Hartford before becoming the owner of Carl's Taylor Shop in New Britain. She was an active member of the seniors group at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection and was a member of Martha Chapter #21, O.E.S. Elizabeth loved to travel and read, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Peter Sivaslian, of Torrington; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Patricia Chaglasian of Greenlawn, NY; a sister-in-law, Mary Ohanesian of New Britain; six grandchildren, Deborah Anderson of Boston, MA, Lauri Sivaslian of New York, NY, David Sivaslian of Hamden, Karen Mitri of Fairfield, and Andrew K. Chaglasian of Port Chester, NY; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at First Church of Christ, 830 Corbin Ave., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Armenian Missionary Association of America, 31 West Century Rd., Paramus, NJ 07652.
