Elizabeth E. Behm, of Farmington, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023 at the UConn Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Nuremburg, Germany, and lived in Farmington, CT the past 60 years. Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Karl and Babette (Eckert) Benz of Nuremburg, Germany. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Francis “Fritz” Behm. She was employed in her early years by Royal Typewriter Corporation, and later retiring from the State of Connecticut Food Stamp Fraud Unit. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Britain, CT. She enjoyed reading, politics, shopping, and UConn Basketball. Elizabeth was widely known as the dog lady. She always had a dog in her life until it became too difficult, but she always looked forward to spending time with the many dogs in the neighborhood that visited her.
She was always eager to see her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as hear the many updates and stories of their routines. She is survived by her son and his wife, Ron and Louise Behm of Naples, FL; two grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher (Lauren) Behm, of Plainville, CT, and Kimberly (Ryan) Waldron of Greensboro, GA. In addition, she leaves three adoring great grandchildren; Logan Waldron, Emerson Waldron, and Greyson Behm.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Brookdale Gables of Farmington, and the UConn Medical Center. Special thanks to her dear friend, Teresa Valentine.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023 at 11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St, New Britain, CT. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111, the National Wildlife Federation, PO Box 1691, Merrifield, VA 22116, or the charity of your choice.
