Eleanor A. (Plonski) Unwin, 89, of Kensington, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Scranton, PA. She was the widow of Robert J. Unwin.
Born in Shickshinny, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Josephine (Mieczkowski) Plonski. Eleanor attended local schools in the area and graduated from High School in Harford, PA.
She then moved to Connecticut and began working for Emhart as a lock inspector. Eleanor worked there for 44 years, retiring in 1988. She was also a waitress at Hamps restaurant in Southington for over 20 years.
Eleanor was an avid fan and follower of the UCONN girls’ basketball team. She loved when the women won by a large margin. She was thrilled to be able to watch the Championship games.
Eleanor enjoyed making Thanksgiving dinners for her family. She was an excellent cook, rarely needing a cookbook.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 10732, Berlin.
Eleanor is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Barbara Unwin of Berlin, her sister Phyllis B. She was predeceased by her sister Jean Piechota, her brothers Joseph, Chester, Stephen and John Plonski.
