Eleanor N. Currier, 91, of New Britain, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at home. She was the widow of Roger Currier who died in 1973. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Kulmann) Niedmann. Eleanor was a life-long New Britain resident and was formerly employed in the purchasing department at Stanley Works and later at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Co. before retiring. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a charter member of the Altar Guild. Eleanor was predeceased by her brother, George Niedmann and her sister, Florence Spinetta. She is survived by her niece Geraldine Tucker and her husband Richard, of New Britain, her nephew, Robert Spinetta of New Britain and Lake Placid, FL, and niece Karen McNey of Granby; her grandniece and caregiver, Susan Melluzzo; and grandnephews, Jeffrey Tucker, Mark Tucker, Christopher Tucker, Scott McNey and Patrick McNey; and eleven great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church 295 Arch Street, New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
