Eleanor Scagliotti Cayer, 80, of Kensington, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Hospital of Central CT. She was the widow of Henry Cayer, Sr. Born in Kensington, and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Martino Scagliotti. Eleanor was formerly employed at Stanley Works for many years. She was a member of Berlin Congregational Church, the AARP and the Berlin Seniors. Eleanor enjoyed many trips and activities with the Seniors. Surviving is her son, Barry J. Cayer, Sr., of Kensington; two daughters, Elizabeth Cayer of Kensington, Lida Matthews and her husband Edward of Middlefield; five grandchildren, Barry Cayer Jr., Sarah Collins, Cleveland P. Huggins IV and his wife Julie, Melanie J. Huggins, and Henry C. Cayer III; four great-grandchildren, Devin Collins, John and Matthew Huggins, and Colton Anderson; Many nieces and nephews, and Arthur Powers Jr. who was like a son to her. She was affectionately known as the beloved mother and grandmother to many people. She was predeceased by her son Henry Cayer, Jr., her brothers, Albert and Richard Scagliotti, Victor and Edward DeSarro, her sisters, Clara Graziano and Candida Gagliardi, and her granddaughter, Laura Lee Cayer. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at the Berlin Congregational Church. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berlin Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 878 Worthington Ridge, Berlin, CT 06037. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
