Elaine M. Johnson

Elaine M. Johnson, 87, of Meriden CT, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell, CT.  She was the widow of Edwin S. Johnson.

Elaine was a former resident of Salem, NH, Waltham, MA and New Sweden, ME.  She was a member of Bethany Covenant Church in Bedford, New Hampshire and was a former member of the Waltham Covenant Church. Elaine loved to sing in the church choir, and was the first female member of the Diaconate at Bethany Covenant Church in Bedford.

Surviving are six children, Carol Straw and her husband David, Edwin Johnson, Susan Carr and her husband Dan, Clifford Johnson and his wife Verna, Deborah Parsons, and David Johnson; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Elaine was predeceased by a daughter, Donna (Aisha) Khaliq, by her infant daughter, Katherine and by her son in law Lee Parsons.

A memorial service in Connecticut will be held on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 at 12 PM at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin, CT with a reception to follow.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH at a later time.  A calling hour will be held on Monday at Bethany Covenant Church from 11 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial donations may be made to Pilgrim Pines and Camp Squanto, 220 West Shore Rd., Swanzey, NH 03446. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
