Einar H. Freberg, 87, of New Britain, husband of Dirkje Freberg, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at home. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Einar W. and Ottilia (Bjorklund) Freberg. He was a life long New Britain resident. Einar was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Harvard Precision Components and Peter Paul Electronics before retiring. Einar was a member of New Britain High School Friends of Football and enjoyed amateur photography. Surviving are his wife, Dirkje (Eigenraam) Freberg, with whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 12, of this year; five children, Gary Freberg and his companion Lynn Bradley of Lyme, CT, Barbara Martin and her husband David of Elysburg, PA, Robin Everson and her husband Art of Newington, Victoria Shomada and her companion Steve Bartlett of Henderson, NC, Einar "Bill" Freberg and his wife Shelly of Chocorua, NH; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Irene McLarney, Eleanor Magnano, and Phyllis Lindsey, and by his brother, Robert Freberg. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St. New Britain. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery. A period of visitation will take place on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
