Efrain Saavedra

Efrain Saavedra, 63, of Orlando, FL, formerly of New Britain, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 in Florida. He was the beloved husband of Ana Garcia Saavedra. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Joaquin Saavedra and Antonia Arroyo. He was a long time New Britain resident before moving to Florida in 2000. He was formerly employed at Stanley Works for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Mary Church. Efrain was a loving father and a hero to his children and family. In addition to his beloved wife Ana, he is survived by his children, Maria Coyle and her husband Stephen, Haydee Masi and her husband James, Charlie Saavedra and Danny Wassil; six sisters, Elsie Arroyo Rivera, Ramona Casiano, Maria Santos, Ida Rivera, Matea Santiago, and Maria Ayala; three brothers, Alexandro Ramos, Alfredo Saavedra, and Luis Saavedra; two Godchildren, Angela Malenfant and Jeffrey Davis; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Efrain was predeceased by a brother, Joaquin Saavedra, and by a niece, Nellie Santiago. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday today from 7-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
