Edwin Castro

Edwin Castro, 48, of Newington, passed away on Monday, February 1, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Humacao, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Esmeralda DeLeon and the late Lucas Castro. Edwin was a former Wethersfield resident, moving to Newington one year ago. He was active in the Sterling Softball League of Wethersfield and the American Pool Players Association. Edwin attended the Bethel Christian Church in New Britain.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion Jean Boccaccio of Newington, his daughter Yadira Castro of Hartford, his brother Sammy Ortiz and his wife Kristina of West Hartford, two sisters, Wilma Cruz of Hartford, Nexsa Matos and her husband Carlos of Wethersfield, his step children, DJ, Mario and Selena Malave of Newington, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12 noon at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10:30 am until 12 noon.
