Edward "E.J." Rogers Sr., 74, of Southington, husband of BettyLou Rogers,passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Born in Auburn, NY, he was the son of the late Stuart Rogers and Mary(Jasniewski) Rogers Pease. He was a former New Britain resident, moving to Southington in 1991. Edward was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Skylark from 1956 to 1960. He retired from Plainville Electroplating in 2003 and had also worked at Fenn Manufacturing in Newington. He was a member of the Southington Sportsmen's Association for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife, BettyLou (LaBarre) Rogers; two sons, Edward J. Rogers, Jr. and Gregory S. Rogers; three daughters, Miriam Doody and her husband Eric, Christine Brinkley and her husband Glenn, Vera Radsiszewski and her husband Francis; a brother, Richard Rogers and his wife Liz of Auburndale, FL, a sister, Irene DeCarr and her husband Harold of New Smyrna Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Gregory M. Rogers, Stephanie (Rogers) Moore, Mykel Brinkley, Timothy Rogers and Jessica Radsiszewski; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be private.
