Edna Jabs Rinas, age 82, went home to be with the Lord and to join her great granddaughter Jennifer. She leaves behind her beloved husband and care-giver, Gustav Rinas; two daughters, Lillian and her husband, Rev. Ed Miller of RI; Judy and her husband Phil Welch of GA; and two sons, Paul Rinas and his wife Kathleen of Bristol; Daniel Rinas and his wife Hazel from MD. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Ottilie Mueller of IN; a brother, Gus Jabs of CA; and three sisters-in-law, Esther Jabs of OR, Adele Rinas and Eleanor Rinas, both of New Britain. Edna had a large heart for the Lord and His work. She had a great burden for the deaf and for thirty-three years she taught a Bible class at the American School for the Deaf. She was also a guide for the blind in New Hampshire for eleven years. Edna was born in Bristol CT to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Jabs and was the sister of the late Elna Yanke, Lydia Bailey, Herbert Jabs and Gerhardt Jabs. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain.
