Edmund A. Uryga, 87, of Kensington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday. He was the widower of Lena (Marino) Uryga. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Anthony and Ludwika (Bukowiec) Uryga. Edmund is a former New Britain resident, moving to Kensington over sixty years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Edmund worked as a Foreman for Consolidated Industries, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Paul Church, the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, and was a Teamsters Union Steward. Edmund loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed wonderful vacations with his wife Lena in Marco Island, FL. Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Richard Baccaro of Kensington, Debra and Kent Leghorn of Portland, his son and daughter-in-law David and MaryBeth Uryga of Kensington, his six grandchildren, Jennifer and Katie Baccaro, Kelly and Eric Leghorn and his wife Amy, Matthew and Casey Uryga, his wonderful caregiver Nadya Savchuk, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church at 10:00 am. Burial, with full military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
