It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edith Marie (Larco) Vaccariello, 91, on March 31, 2021, into eternal rest, with her family by her side.
Edith, a long-time resident of New Britain, is the daughter of the late Domenico and Carmela (Gagliardi) Larco.
Highlighting mom’s life, she loved to cook, sew with Millie, garden, attend the beach, and play cards with her card crew. But most of all, she enjoyed the red carpet treatment she received, attending musicals and concerts on Broadway, where her son, Patrick is a music director.
Swimming was mom’s forte. She was an avid swimmer and loved going to Chalker Beach, Old Saybrook, to spend time with the Ingenito’s. She also enjoyed gardening and assisting at their florist, until the Ingenito’s graced her with a plant and told her to place it in front of her house. When it bloomed, it turned out to be an eggplant!
In addition, she was infamous for her homemade Italian pasta, especially gnocchi, in which she mentored her daughter, Donna, and granddaughter, Michelle, to carry out the family tradition. All enjoyed her Italian cookies, along with all sorts of baked goods. When entertaining at her home, she shared her specialty dinners with all, while her husband, Pat, entertained with the accordion.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Donna Marie Davy, her son, Patrick Vaccariello, and her granddaughter, Michelle Marie Davy. She is also survived by her sister, Adeline Cefaratti, and a brother-in-law Matthew Butera, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Paschal Vaccariello, her brothers, Michael, Felix, and Bernard Larco, her sisters Catherine Debenian, Angeline Butera, sister-in-law Frances Larco, brother-in-law Joseph Cefaratti and her godchild Frankie Cefaratti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Newington Avenue, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
