Dorothy S. Wiediger, 67, of New Britain, died peacefully at home on Monday, March 25, 2002. She was the widow of Rev. Carl G. Wiediger, who died in 1996. Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Harold Swales and Dorothy Gothier Swales. Dorothy was a New Britain resident for the past 30 years. She was formerly employed as a Bristol Public Health Nurse and prior to that had worked at Walnut Hill Convalescent Home. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Forestville and was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts. Surviving are four daughters, Ann Tucker and her husband Jeffrey of Willington, Carol Wiediger of New Britain, Diana Wiediger of Houston, TX, and Dr. Susan Wiediger and her husband, Timothy Kalinowski of Sugarland, TX; a son, Harold ''Hal'' Wiediger and his wife Ayse of Sterling, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. William Swales and his wife Joan of Phoenix, NY; and seven grandchildren, Rebecca Tucker, Ethan Tucker, Gretchen Tucker, Damon Alston III, Tyler Alston, Alexandria Alston, and Dimitri Alston. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain. Due to Holy week, funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central CT, 40 East St., Plainville or to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 355 Camp St., Forestville. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Hospice of Central CT for their excellent and gentle care, and kind consideration to the family.
