Dorothy "Dottie" Vesci

Dorothy “Dottie” (Kenna) Vesci, 93, passed away on December 19, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Pacinda) Kenna Hury and Leo Kenna and was a lifelong New Britain resident. Dottie was predeceased by her cherished husband, Anthony Vesci Sr. with whom she shared 59 beautiful years of marriage.

Upon graduating from high school, Dottie was employed at CCSU and enjoyed her 45 year career there. She loved going to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun visiting the casinos and playing her favorite specific poker slot machines. She also played weekly cards with a group of friends. Dottie’s precious hair was never out of place and she made sure of that with a standing appointment twice weekly at the salon with Frank Didomenico. She was a member of St. Ann Church and loved spending time with her family.

Dottie leaves her three sons, Anthony Vesci Jr. and Melanie Giuliani, Jimmy Vesci and his wife Josie, and Gary Vesci and his husband Kirk Williams; her grandchildren, Kevin Vesci and his wife Alexandra, Kristin Vesci, Zachary Vesci-Williams and Xavier Vesci-Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Theo and Anna Vesci whom she adored and whenever she saw them they always brought a smile to her face. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sue Vesci; several nieces and nephews; her extended Tariciani family; and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Dottie was predeceased by her sister, Florence Jetmar Lewis; her brother, Leo Kenna; and her best friend, Rose Taricani. Rose told her before passing that she would be holding a slot machine for her in heaven.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Jerome Home and Arbor Rose staff and Trinity Hospice for taking such great care of her. She will miss all the friends she made.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Ann Church of St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
