Dorothy Nyquist Tyler

Dorothy Nyquist Tyler, 79, of Newington, died peacefully on Sunday, May 21, 2006 in Newington. She was the widow of Bernard Tyler who died in 1974. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Elof and Emma Busse Nyquist. She was a long time New Britain resident and a Newington resident since 1974. Dorothy was formerly employed at Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Co., retiring in 1986. She was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church, the Emmanuel Senior Citizens, Aetna 39ers, Newington Chapter #115, Order of the Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Savalle of Salem, CT and Esther Tyler of Newington; a son, David Tyler of Newington; a brother, Vernon Nyquist of Cromwell; a sister, Ruth Ashak of Springvale, ME; and two grandchildren, Nicole Savalle and David G. Tyler. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
