Dorothy H. Reed

Dorothy H. Reed, 96, of Kensington, passed away at home on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017.  She was the widow of Harlie M. Reed.  Both greatly loved and respected by her children, she was a woman ahead of her time, demonstrating an independent spirit that challenged those around her.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise Schofield and her husband, Blair, of New Britain and Donna Reed of Kensington;  two sons, Scott Reed and his wife, Judy, of Tucson, AZ and Bruce Reed and his wife, Deb, of Plymouth, MA;  three grandchildren, Chris Reed, Melissa Reed and Ali Reed;  a brother, William Hintz and his wife, Gertrude, of New Britain;  a sister, Marie Lois Dow of Greensboro, NC;  a brother-in-law, Doug Wright of Meriden;  and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Waldemar Hintz; and by two sisters, Eleanor Groth and Betty Jane Wright.

A private graveside service will be held at Maple Cemetery in Berlin.  Memorial donations may be made to the Women In Military Service for America Memorial, Dept. 560, Washington, D.C.  20042 (or online at womensmemorial.org).  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
