Dorothy Parker Lee, born 23 July, 1918 died peacefully at her home in Jerusalem, Rhode Island on 29 January, 2013. Dorothy was known to her many friends and family as a woman who always said: "yes" to life. She loved travel and meeting new people, especially in the warm climates of St. Croix, U.S.V.I. and Honolulu, Hawaii. She loved family gatherings, holidays, music (especially Taiko drumming), and sunsets. She was a teacher for many years in the Berlin, Connecticut elementary schools, where, as she said: "I love teaching anybody shorter than I am". Children would cheer when she walked into their classrooms as a substitute teacher. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in New Britain, Connecticut. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Robert ("Bob") Lee, her daughter Jinny Lee, and her daughter-in-law, Linda B. Lee. She leaves behind three children, Dorothy, Robert and Barbara; a sister, Virginia P Godwin; ten grandchildren, Troy, Steven, Wayne, Aaron, Nathan, Robert, Jeremy, Katharine, William and Charles; ten great grandchildren, Zachariah, Brittany, Kayla, Mariah, Germaine, Brandon, Austin, Sylvanna, Kai and Nicolas; one great great-grandchild Kaylon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 AM in the Erwin Chapel at South Church, 90 Main St., New Britain, CT. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery services. The family will receive family and friends at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the funeral service.
