Dorina M. Rodriguez

Dorina M. Rodriguez, 84, of New Britain, CT entered into eternal peace on August 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Dorina was born on November 22, 1938 to Mauro and Carolina Zivillica in Catanzaro, Italy then moved to New Britain, CT in 1948.  After graduating college, Dorina worked in the financial and banking industry, with the last 22 years being at Accounts Management for her dear friend Marion Sgroi.  Dorina’s work ethic was second to none and she proudly worked, or as she said “consulted” until she was 82 years old.

Dorina was a devout Catholic with her unwavering faith in God being her guiding light.  Dorina was always there for advice, support and of course amazing home cooked Italian meals.  Dorina loved her Yankees, hosting family gatherings, watching her soap operas and Jeopardy along with her passion for a good book.  Dorina would always let you know that she “loved you more” and that comfort will carry on as she watches over everyone.  In September 2019 while in Italy with her family, His Holiness Pope Francis had the pleasure of meeting Dorina in person.

Dorina’s spirit lives on through her son, John Rodriguez, daughters Carrie Rodriguez and Ro Rodriguez, her five grandchildren Justin Molina, Jessica Rodriguez, Jennifer Rodriguez, Jacie Legassey, Tyler Rodriguez, her great-grandson Jayden Molina along with numerous godchildren, cousins and extended family.  Dorina’s lifelong friends Constance Sonzella and Ann Russo will keep her memory alive.

Dorina requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Saint Joachim Parish in New Britain, CT.  There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home located at 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ann Church located at 101 North Street, New Britain, CT.  Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery located at 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain, CT.
