Donald E. Joyce

Donald E. Joyce, 67, of New Britain, beloved husband of Mary Fitzgerald Joyce, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Bowler Joyce. He was a former Unionville resident attending Farmington Schools, and was a New Britain resident for over 40 years. He was formerly employed by Laborers Local 611 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children, Michael Joyce, James Joyce and Donna Levesque, all of New Britain; Karen Paradis and Laura Dominique both of Plainville; Rocco Balesano of West Hartford and Robert Balesano of FL; two brothers, John Joyce of Avon and Peter Joyce of Cal.; sixteen grandchildren, Deena, Lauren, Ryan, Brian, David, Ashley, Kyle, Cody, Nicole, Nora, Dino, Tommy, Joe, Corinne, Cara, and Bobby. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 80 Whiting St., Plainville, CT 06062. Don's family would like to thank their special friends at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital including his physician, Dr. Robin Joyce, and nursing staff including Karen, Michelle, Mary Ellen, and Bea, for their loving care. Don touched many lives and will be missed by all who know and loved him.
