Dominic Michael Carlone Sr., age 85, of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. He was the devoted husband of the late Christine (Albani) Carlone for over 58 years.
Dominic was born in Campodipietra, Province of Campobasso, Italy on May 26, 1937. He was the son of the late Michele Carlone and Maria Filippa (Mancini) Carlone. He immigrated to the United States on September 18, 1946. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps. from 1955 to 1963, and was on the Honor Guard at Grace Kelly’s wedding to Prince Rainier. He was employed as a steel mill operator at Stanley Works in New Britain, occasionally enjoying Capitol Lunch hotdogs when his shift ended at midnight.
His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, always joking, fishing on opening day, bowling, dancing with Christine, and eating donuts at the beach on summer vacations. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at Stanley Senior Center, loved playing cards, especially those setback games with his grandsons, going to the casino, and visits with his “little pumpkin”.
Dominic leaves behind his two loving children, his daughter Catherine Depathy of Bolton and his son Dominic Carlone, Jr. and daughter-in-law Lisa of Kensington; a granddaughter, Alyson Krahl and her husband David, great grandsons, Barrett and Conrad of Simpsonville, SC; his grandson Dominic Carlone III, and great grandson Dominic Carlone IV of Hillsboro, NH; grandsons Zachary Carlone of Wellesley, MA, Nicholas Carlone and Joshua Carlone of Kensington; his brother, Mario Carlone of New Hartford; sisters-in-law Angela Carlone of Bristol and Rose Carlone of Southington; his companion, Sandra Turner of Kensington and her children (his extended family); and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Christine, his son-in-law Keith Depathy, and his brothers Carlo Carlone and Gaetano Carlone.
Funeral services will begin on Monday, April 3, at 9:30am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St, New Britain, followed by the funeral liturgy at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St., New Britain. Burial, with military honors, will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 2, from 5-7pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
