Denis August Thiede, 61, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday. Born in Middletown, he is the son of Lucy (Marturano) Thiede of New Britain and the late Walter G. Thiede. Denis is a former Southington and New Britain resident, residing in Bristol since 1986. He was a self employed Electrician for DEL Electrical for 25 years, then Denis became the Department Head and teacher at E.C Goodwin Technical High School for Electrical Technology. He is a former member of the Civil Air Patrol. Denis was a member of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, Barque Eagle Division, Plainville, for 20 years and Commanding Officer for the past 14 years. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Britain. The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Denis. In addition to his mother, Denis is survived by his son Joshua Thiede of Cromwell, his daughter and son-in-law Colette and Peter Daigle of Bristol, a brother David Thiede and his wife Andrea of Berlin, a sister SueAnn Diehl of Avon, five grandchildren, Isabel and Grace Daigle, Aleksander, Juliet and Evie Thiede, a niece Allison-Rose Witkovic and a nephew Matthew Frost. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to LCDR, Denis A.
