David B. Tyler, 52, of Newington, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. Born on Oct. 10, 1958 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Nyquist) Tyler. David was a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical School. A former New Britain and Florida resident, he was a resident of Newington and Rocky Hill since 1974. He was at Talcott Glen in Farmington for over eight years as the superintendent. He was a member of the Glastonbury Elks Lodge. Dave loved his pets, Jeter, Spike, Ricky, Lucy, Iggy, and Jane. He enjoyed working on his many cars, going shooting, and as of recently, RVing. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if necessary. He loved spending time with his family and friends. As he always said, "It's five o'clock somewhere". Surviving are his son, David G. Tyler of Newington; two sisters, Esther D. Tyler of Newington and Ruth L Savalle of Salem; his fiancee, Barbarajane DiLernia of Newington; a "step-daughter", Tina DiLernia; an aunt, Dorothy Breski of Kensington; and a niece, Nicole E. Savalle of Salem. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a good friend, Michael A. Provencal. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain with Rev. James Olson, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
