David M. "Red" MacKenzie, 45, of New Britain, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Hartford Hospital due to complications from an auto accident. Born in Southington, he was the son of Donald MacKenzie of New Britain and the late Sophie Latko MacKenzie. Dave was a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical School machine shop and was formerly employed by C.C.S.U. in the Maintenance Department. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and loved music of all kinds. In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Donald MacKenzie Jr. and his wife Susan and their son Jacob of East Haddam, Brian MacKenzie of Kensington and his girlfriend Tamyra Davis; a sister, Brenda Matulis and her husband Matthew and their children Amanda and Andrew of East Haddam, CT; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many devoted friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brother, Steven W. MacKenzie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery on Tuesday, Jan. 19th at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
