David A. Johnson, 84, of Cromwell, formerly of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital. He was the widower of Ruth C. Johnson.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late David W. Johnson and Edith (Carlson) Johnson. David was a long time resident of Newington before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1992 and to Cromwell in 2004. David was employed as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney and United Technologies before forming his own company, Johnson Associates. His work experience allowed him to travel extensively. He was a member of Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin and was instrumental in the planning and building of Hope Covenant Church in Chandler, AZ, where he was a charter member.
Surviving are his daughter, Constance “Connie” Walsh and her husband Patrick of Centennial, CO; and four grandsons, Patrick, Paul, Gabriel, and Greggory. In addition to his wife Ruth, David was predeceased by his son, Christopher Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Covenant Village of Cromwell Benevolent Care Fund, 52 Missionary Rd, Cromwell, CT 06416.
