David Jairam, 86, of Newington, husband of Sabra Barton Jairam, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 at Elm Hill Convalescent Home after a brief illness. Born in British Guyana, South America, he was a Newington resident since 1972. David was very proud to be a chef and member of the Connecticut Chefs Association. He was employed as a chef at Hartford Hospital for 28 years, and later with the Imperial Caterers, and finally at the Monastery in West Hartford before retiring. He had a special love for cooking, and enjoyed traveling to various parts of the country for gatherings of those in his profession. The family would like to express their deep and sincere gratitude for the compassionate care given by the staff at Elm Hill Convalescent Home. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Sabra Barton Jairam; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Camilleri of West Hartford, and Priscilla DelCiampo of Newington; and his nieces and nephews, Mark Camilleri, Brian Camilleri, Karen Cyr, David Camilleri, Jason Camilleri, Beverly Atchison, and Clark Doane. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday afternoon, from 1-2 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.
