Daniel Milton

On December 20, 2025 Daniel Milton, 88, affectionately known as “Danny” by his coworkers but to his siblings he was simply “Buddy”, entered into eternal peace with the comfort of knowing his family was there by his side at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Daniel was born December 8, 1937, to the late Raymond and Ruby Milton of Quincy, Florida. He came to live in New Britain, CT many years ago when he was 16 years old. After his arrival to the state of Connecticut, he met the love of his life Mary Thompson and the two of them became quite inseparable.

Together they shared a marriage and love that lasted for 65 years. To this happy union three children were born. Daniel had an extraordinary work ethic and believed in the value of hard work. He was a dedicated family man. He began his work career at Manafort Construction Company, followed by Moore Medical Corporation, and then Newington Veterans Hospital.

Finally, he found his calling at the final company. He worked for Stanley tools product group (part of the Stanley Works), where he worked for 36 years. Daniel had many hobbies, but gardening was his true passion. He was known for his green thumb and special talents for cultivating plants. He could also cook and bake.

For Daniel, there was no greater joy than being with his family. He played in the Stanley Works slow-pitch softball league, coached Little League and Major League baseball. He served on the bowling league and was an avid fisherman.

Daniel was a die-hard sports fan. He enjoyed attending the Osgood Shootout Tournaments and supported New Britain High School basketball and football teams.

He was a devoted family man who will be missed by his family, friends, and associates. He will be remembered for greeting others with a big smile and a willing spirit to help all who were in need. His true legacy lies in the relationships he cultivated.

All of the wisdom and humor he once shared shall live on through his family. His wisdom and love shaped the lives of his children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren, leaving an undeniable mark on their hearts.

"HE WAS BLESSED TO SEE 5 GENERATIONS."

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruby Milton; two brothers, Samuel Gilliam and Earl Milton; and a sister, Virginia James. Left to honor his precious memory are his wife, Mary E. Milton; one son, James Milton; two daughters, Janice Milton and Stasia Milton Gray all of New Britain, CT; eight grandchildren, Raymond Milton (Soibhan) of Inman, SC, Hailey Alicia of Buffalo, NY, Tyree Gray, Tyshaun Crockett, Julius Langs, Cee-Cee Prebish, Jay-Jay Prebish, and Peggy Baez, all of New Britain, CT; and six great-grandchildren, Zamaya Gray of New Britain, CT, Arlana Milton, Alex Milton, Aaliyah James all of Inman, SC, Demi Pellam, and Quannie Pellam of Buffalo, NY.

He is also survived by eight sisters, Joyce Watts of Arlington, TX, Annette Milton of Atlanta, GA, Josephine Johnson, Altamease Smith, Doris Jackson (English), Wondexa Milton, Joy Milton, and Tatayana Smith all of Quincy, FL; and two brothers, Henry Milton (Paula) and Roger Milton (Sheantika), all of Quincy, FL.

Last, but certainly not least, Daniel leaves behind his special friends Harry Gray, Curtis Williams, Scott Sturgeon, Maurice Robinson, and Everett Langs as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless others whose lives he touched.
