Corpus Elias Sanchez

Corpus Elias Sanchez, 87, of New Britain, passed away at home on Friday, April 8, 2022.

Born in 1934 in Rincon, Puerto Rico, Corpus immigrated to the US mainland in 1955. A resident of New Britain since 1956, Corpus worked as a farmer, a baker, a small business owner and a machinist at manufacturers North & Judd, Commercial foundry and retired after 22 years of service with The Stanley Works. Corpus loved family gatherings, enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and friends and helped many in need during his years in New Britain.

He was the husband of Juana Maria Amaez whom he loved and shared his life with for 64 years. Corpus is predeceased by his daughter Evelyn Alicea. He leaves behind Evelyn's children Jose Alicea and his wife Rachel and son Joshua; her daughter Myriam Valentin and her husband Lohabel and children Bella, Dezi and Cari; her daughter Tammy Arroyo and her husband Jose and daughters Tatiana and Talissa; and daughter Maraliz Stenson and her husband David.  Also surviving Corpus are a son, Robert (Bobby) Sanchez and his wife Nebeska and son Lawrence; a son Edwin Sanchez and his children Emmanuel Sanchez and his wife Nicole, Deana Sanchez and Emilio Sanchez and his wife Ashley; his daughter Myriam Sanchez; and his son William (Bill) Cologne.

Calling hours and funeral services are Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 9-10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
