Conrad P. Rivard

Heaven gained another angel, as our beloved Conrad Philippe Rivard, 88, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023 after battling with Dementia for 11 years. Conrad was husband to Annette (Nadeau) Rivard for 62 years, residing in Plainville, CT. He was born May 3, 1934 in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, to the late Rudolphe Rivard and Cecile Bouchard.

Conrad married Annette Nadeau in 1960 and they made their home in Connecticut after moving to the USA in 1964.  He was a devoted husband and father of three lovely daughters and he cherished time with his family. Conrad adored his nine grandchildren and recently met his first great grandchild which gave him much joy. In addition to raising their children, Conrad maintained his career as a machinist.  Conrad was employed by Stanley Tools for 27 years and retired in 1999.   He was also a partner in his wife’s home daycare, where he was affectionately called Pépère or Pépère-Con by all of the kids.

Conrad had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed camping and taking trips with his family across the east coast and to Canada.  He loved using his “MAPS” to map out the trip routes to various campgrounds and family gatherings.  Conrad was so proud of his Canadian heritage, but also extremely proud to have become a naturalized US citizen in 1992.  Conrad loved to tell endless stories of his life in Canada and serving as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

In addition to his wife, he will be dearly missed by his surviving daughters, Joyce Marcantonio and her husband Rodney Marcantonio of Meriden, CT, Darlene Marquez and her husband Peter Marquez of Plainville, CT, Charlene Rivard-Sitaras and her husband Marcelo Sitaras of Somers, NY.

Conrad is survived by his siblings, Ronald Rivard of Washington State, Marguerite Rivard of Quebec, Canada, Marie (Carol) Rivard of Washington State, and Gerald (Chum) Rivard and his wife Linda Rivard of Quebec, Canada.  He is predeceased by his siblings, Lucille Dubay, Robert (Bobby) Rivard, Roger Rivard, Rachelle Dion, Murielle Rivard, Gilles Rivard and Maurice Rivard.

Conrad also leaves his grandchildren,  Natalia Marcantonio-Sweet, Monique Marcantonio, Justin Marquez, Karina Sitaras, Kyle Marquez, Nicolas Sitaras, Alessandro Sitaras, Seth Marquez, Riley Marquez, and his great grandson Jaxon Sweet.

Conrad was a huge father figure to so many of his nieces and nephews across the USA and Canada.

Conrad’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to all family and friends for their support during this time of reflection of his life.  Also special thanks to Amberwoods of Farmington for taking such good care of Conrad throughout his final weeks.

As Conrad used to say……….“Come again, when you can’t stay so long!”
