Clarence H. Peterson, 87, of Cromwell, died Aug. 9, 2002 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. He was the widower of Margaret Pearson Peterson. Born in Clear Lake, IA on Mar. 17, 1915, he was the son of the late Swan and Gertrude Anderson Peterson. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Gerard Creme of West Hartford: a granddaughter, Catherine; two sisters, June Pearson of Turlock, CA and Madaline Hill of Waterloo, IA; and a close friend, Beverly Hennessy of Cromwell. Clarence was a graduate of North Park College and North Park Theological Seminary of Chicago, Western Michigan State University of Kalamazoo, MI, and the University of Bridgeport. He was ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church in 1946, and served Covenant Churches in Harbert, MI, LeRoy, MI, Crookston, MN, and Weston, CT. He was the Protestant Chaplain at Norwich State Hospital, Norwich, for sixteen years. After retirement, he volunteered in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program at Norwich Hospital and at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Bethany Covenant Church, Berlin. Entombment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford at the convenience of the family.
