Claire S. Kus

Claire (Strajkowski) Kus, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Autumn Lake Heatlhcare surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Edward M. Kus for 63 years.

Born in New Britain, Claire was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Olszewska)  Strajkowski. She has been a New Britain resident all of her life and was member of Sacred Heart Church. Claire worked as an Inspector at Fafnir Bearing for many years where she had the pleasure to meet Astronaut Gordon Cooper. She cherished dinners with her family and time together with all of them was very important.

In addition to her husband Edward, Claire is survived by her son Gary Kus of Berlin, her two daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Gary Budnick of Forestville, and Nancy and Daniel Kelly of New Britain, her twin sister Helen Lizon of New Britain, and her grandchildren; Steven and Allison Budnick, Ashley and Kyle Kus, and Tyler and Ryan Kelly. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Strajkowski, and two sisters, Lucy Harrison and Genevieve Belas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday morning from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Sacred Heart School, 35 Orange St., New Britain, CT 06053.
