Christo Constantine Vournazos

Christo Constantine Vournazos, 83, of Newington, beloved husband of Marianthy Morris Vournazos, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Ansonia, CT, he was the son of the late Constantine and Marina Vasilas Vournazos. He was raised in Danbury, graduating from Danbury High School in 1941. He later attended and graduated from Wescon University. He was a former New Britain resident moving to Newington in 1965. Christo was formerly employed as an instrument technician at Fafnir Bearing Co, before retiring. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Christo was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, AHEPA, the Golden Rascals, the American Legion, and the AARP. In addition to his wife Marianthy, he is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law; Constantine C. and Joyce Vournazos of Griswold, George C. and Karen Vournazos of East Hampton; and Peter C. Vournazos of Hebron; three grandchildren, Evangeline, Shiloh, and Laurie; a sister, Aris Macricostas of Danbury; and two nephews, Stephen and George Macricostas. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain and Tuesday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A Trisagion service will be conducted by Rev. James Bogiatzis Monday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 West Main St., New Britain.
