Charles A. Snetro

Charles A. Snetro, 90, of Kensington, loving husband for over 68 years to Mary (Daddabbo) Snetro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Born in New Britain on May 11, 1924, to Charles and Catherine (Kukuck) Snetro, he resided in New Britain before moving to Kensington in 1959. Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, proudly serving on the USS Augusta, which was the flagship of the invasion of Normandy. He was formerly employed at Vandrilla Floor Covering and at the State of CT before retiring. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the Men's Senior Golf Club at Timberlin Golf Course, where he enjoyed many good times. He was also a member of Berlin Senior Bowling and the Berlin Senior Center. Charles was an avid NY Yankees, NY Giants, and UCONN Men and Women's Basketball fan. He was a member of St. Paul Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary (Daddabbo) Snetro; a daughter, Patricia Gaedeke and her husband James; two grandchildren, Daniel Gaedeke and his fiancée Kristen LaPorte and Marcy Gaedeke; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael C. Snetro, his parents, three sisters, and a brother. Charles's family would like to extend their gratitude to Pansy and Florentina for their loving care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Paul Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
