Charles P. Mooradian, 87, of Simsbury, a former New Britain resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Violet Sharrow Mooradian. Also surviving are his brother, Oscar Moradian and his wife Margaret; two sisters, Margaret Maroun and her husband Mike, and Sonia Ohanian; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Hovsepian Mooradian. Charlie was a US Navy Veteran, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. While living in California for many years, he loved tending to his fruit trees and rose bushes. He and Violet moved to Boca Raton, FL and then, more recently to Jacksonville, FL to be close to his family before returning to Connecticut. Their pleasures were always being with their family, traveling, and being a part of the Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
