Charlene Scanlan, 65, of New Britain, passed away at home on Thursday. Born in New Britain and a lifelong resident, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Hazel Hinchcliffe Scanlan. Charlene worked for Emhart for many years in the office of the Traffic Department. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Surviving are her two sons, Craig Blancato of New Britain, Thomas Blancato of Maine, two daughters, Lorelee Was of New Britain, Diane Schmitt of Berlin, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her former husband Dennis Was of New Britain. Charlene was predeceased by her son Ronald Was. Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
