Cecilia Rios

Cecilia Rios passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, May 31, 2010 in the presence of her loved ones. Born June 28, 1946 in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Pura Arroyo and Lazaro Rios. She was the widow of Emilio Hernandez Lauriano. Cecilia was formerly employed at Fafnir Bearing Company and later at Stanley Works for many years, before retiring. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who enjoyed cooking, entertaining and making people feel welcome. She belonged to John 23 and loved to visit the sick, pray with them and recite the rosary. She is survived by three sons and a daughter; Emilio Hernandez, Herminio Hernandez, Armando Ortiz, and Cecilia Hernandez all of New Britain, CT. She is also survived by her long time companion Jose E. Ortiz of Bronx, NY, her sisters and brothers; Gloria, Hilda, Aurora, Milagros, Alejandro, Domingo, Julio, Pedro, Guillermo, Jesus, Wilfredo, and David. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, cousins, and many friends all who adored her. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, support and well wishes during this most difficult time. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at St. Mary Church at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 7-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
