Cavell Jobert Nappi, 81, of Wethersfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Wethersfield Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Greenwood Jobert. Cavell was a pioneer in the field of televsion weathercasting and was the first female weather forecaster in our area. She was employed from 1953 - 1967 at WVIT Channel 30 and was familiarly known to everyone in central Connecticut as "The Weathergirl." Cavell was spokesperson for many area and national businesses through televsion commercials for General Electric, Lestoil, Blue Bell Matress Company, Connecticut Furriers, and First National Stores, among numerous others. Cavell was an exceptionally talented singer and actress and performed lead roles throughout the 1950's and 1960's with the New Britain Repertory Theater, The Oval in the Grove, The Mark Twain Masquers, and the Studio Group at the Hedges. She was later employed at the American Red Cross, where she also served as a volunteer after retirement. Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Nappi of Plainville, Noelle Frechette of Wethersfield, and Gina Nappi of Sharon; a sister, Renee Walser and Renee's husband Hans "Bob" Walser; and five grandchildren, Lisa, Nicholas, Shane and Luke Frechette, and Dana Nappi. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Grace Episcopal Church in Newington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
