Catherine Marie Germain

Catherine Marie (Lertola) Germain, 80, of New Britain, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.

Born in New Britain, she was the only child of the late Aldo and Anna (Fialkovich) Lertola.  Catherine attended local schools and was formerly employed in various positions at the Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA, retiring after 30 years of service.

Surviving are her three children, Arthur E. Germain III, Brian Germain, and Laurie Germain; Arthur’s partner, Justin Lebron; several cousins, including Mike Fialko, Linda Dearstyne-Pitkin, and her husband Gary; and several special friends, including Beverly Oraczewski, Tammy Vaulk, and Sue Chester.

To honor Catherine’s wishes, funeral services will be private.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Memorial donations in Catherine’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or ASPCA.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
