Carolyn Elizabeth Klingberg Lounsbury was born June 17, 1927 and died June 25, 2013. Carolyn was born in New Britain, Connecticut. Her parents were Rev. and Mrs. Haddon Klingberg and her grandparents were Dr. and Mrs. John Eric Klingberg, the founder of the Children's Home. Her early years of school were spent in the middle west where her father had churches and the family moved back East in her last year of high school, as her father was needed at the Home. Carolyn went on to Central Connecticut State University and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees and taught school in the New Britain system for thirty-five years. She also directed the Headstart Program for three years. She married Alden Lounsbury in 1952 and they had two daughters: Beth (Mrs. David Iverson) of Missouri and Sue (Mrs. Robert Briere) of East Hampton, CT. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Jay, Jessica and Kathryn; a great-granddaughter, Hannah; and her brother, Dr. 'Don Klingberg of Chicago. Carolyn and her husband retired in 1987 and moved to Cape Coral, Florida where they enjoyed the weather, friends and a wonderful church. After Alden's death, Carolyn moved into a condo where she stayed until 2005, when the Lord miraculously showed her the way to Covenant Village. She loved her new home, the wonderful folks, food and fun and being "back home". A private burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
