Carol Marie Nass

Carol Marie (Stabert) Nass, age 78, of Girard Township, PA died on September 25, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Fairview, PA after a 10 year battle with Lymphoma. She was the beloved wife of Wilbur “Bill” Nass for 56+ years.

Carol was born in New Britain, CT January 27, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Robert H. Stabert and Elizabeth H. (Ziegler) Stabert. She was educated in New Britain, CT schools, NBHS Class of 1956. Carol was a resident of Girard Township, PA for many years after relocating from CT.  She had been a member at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain, CT, and served as a young girl’s Blue Bird leader in Plainville, CT. Carol had been employed at Dunham-Bush, Rogers Bakery, and Starco Oil Co. while in CT. She devoted some of her later years to the care of her parents as their health failed and she faithfully provided 24/7 care to them for over 8 years in her home. Carol was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and was noted for the numerous afghans she crocheted for relatives and children of friends. She also knitted many sweaters for the needy of the world through the Knit For Kids organization, as well as having been active in the Seeders and Weeders of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Girard, PA.

In addition to her husband Wilbur “Bill” Nass, Carol is survived by a daughter, Jill Karen Accordino and her husband Richard, of Davenport, NY; a son, Scott Nass (Holli) of Syracuse, UT; a son, Kurt Nass and his wife Barbara Kutz, of Muskego, WI; a sister, Beverly Wolf and her husband Richard, of Spofford, NH; 2 brothers-in-law, David Nass and his wife Judith, of St Paul, MN; and Kenneth Nass and his wife Betty Ann O’Sullivan, of Wilmington, NC. Carol also leaves 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, an uncle, 13 cousins, 6 nieces and 2 nephews who mourn her departure. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nikki Curran.

Funeral services will be held at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main Street, New Britain on Saturday, September 30 at 12 noon. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain, CT.  Relatives and friends may pay their respects to the family on Saturday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
