Carmen Iris Ve lazquez Jusino, 65, of New Britain, passed away on September 27, 2018 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family. She left this Earth to live with her maker after a battle with cancer.
Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan Velazquez and Higinia Rodriguez. Carmen was a New Britain resident for 52 years and was an active member of St. Mary’s Church part of the Religious Education for many years and a member of the Cursillo Movement.
Carmen was employed at the Family Resource Center within the New Britain school system. Carmen enjoyed serving the children and families as a parent educator. By servicing her community, she lived her Catholic faith of God’s love.
She leaves behind her husband Jose A. Jusino and daughter Nathalie Michelle Jusino. She also leaves behind her siblings: Luz M. Velazquez, Juan F. Velazquez, Julia Velazquez, Edward Velazquez and wife Madeline, and Lisa M. Velazquez.
She also leaves her nieces and nephews: Julia Andrea Mejias and husband Omar Mejias and their sons Josha Daniel and Gabriel Anthony, Jasmin Velazquez and David Whitney and their children Alexia Grace and Jon-Carlo Brian, Jocelyn Torres, Gabriela Ortiz, Edgar Daniel Blanco, Carolyn DeJesus, Jasleen Velazquez and husband Jason Sadkowski and their daughter Alohna Hokulani, and Cristina Velazquez.
Carmen was fond of bright colors. To honor her wishes we ask all attendees to wear bright colors.
Calling hours are Monday at St. Mary’s Church 544 Main Street, New Britain from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 PM at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
