Carmen M. Torres

Carmen M. Torres, 74, of Hartford passed away Monday, November 29, 2021.  She was born January 13, 1947 in Ciales, Puerto Rico to the late Serafin and Ramona (Morales) Torres.   Carmen, lovingly known as Mama, was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She lived and breathed for her family.  She’ll always be remembered by her protective nature, her quick wit and sense of humor, and cheerful dance moves in her living room.  She emitted love and adoration for each of her family members.  No matter the day or time, you could always expect a warm welcome with an abundant spread, a delicious café con leche or a mouthwatering limber, y caricias de amor.  Mama was strong, spoke her truth, and took pride in sharing her advice. She was the family's matriarch and is the light that will never go out in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her late brother William and grandson Jay.  Carmen is survived by her son, Orlando Villafañe and three daughters, Lalin Villafañe, Carmen Iris Villafañe, and Carmen Gonzalez; her three brothers and five sisters; her grandchildren, Lissy, Sue, Kathy, Veronica (Betty), Luis, Zafy, Nefty, Joshua (Fafa), Ashley, Adriana (Puti), Joelley, Alex, and Joshua; and many great grandchildren.

A prayer service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5 PM – 7 PM at the funeral home.
