Carmen Mercedes Arroyo

Carmen Mercedes Arroyo, 64, of New Britain, widow of Nelson Caraballo, died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Flores and Otilia Cruz. Carmen was a New Britain resident for the past 40 years and was a member of St. Mary Church. Surviving are four sons, Juan De Dios Arroyo of New Britain, Nelson Junito Caraballo of Pennsylvania, John Angelo Arroyo and Nelson Raul Caraballo, both of New Britain; four daughters, Raquel Caraballo of New Jersey, Annette Caraballo of Florida, Amor Caraballo and Yajaira Caraballo, both of New Britain; two brothers; a sister; seventeen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
