Carmela (Campisi) Germano, 93, of New Britain, unexpectedly went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on June 20th, 2023. She was surrounded by the love of her family.
Born October 13th, 1929 in Solarino, Sicily, she was the eldest daughter of Luciano and Concetta (Pizzo) Campisi. In addition to her parents, Carmela was predeceased by the love of her life Salvatore Germano to whom she was happily married for 73 years, her daughter Giovanna, son Antonino, and brother Simone Campisi.
Carmela emigrated to New Britain, CT in 1970 with her family so they may live the American Dream. She went on to work for America Bazaar for many years. Her greatest joy was her family. As their matriarch, she spent countless hours cooking in her kitchen, spending time with her grandchildren, and gardening with her husband. She loved her family so deeply and created memories that they will cherish forever. Whether she was sharing her stories or her delicious recipes, she always had her family’s best interest in mind. She will be dearly missed and forever loved.
Left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters Giovanna Giannone and her husband Salvatore of Greenacres, FL, Concetta Giannone and her husband Antonio of Berlin, Lucia Germano of Berlin, Antonella Germano of Newington, and her son Antonino Germano and his wife Kathy of New Britain. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, Enza Giannone-Hosig and her husband Benjamin, Danny Giannone and his wife Violet, Melinda Kelleher and her husband Dennis, Marilena Giannone and her fiancé Alex, Marco Giannone and his fiancée Sarah, Juliana Giannone, Amanda Scordino, Loriana Scordino and fiancé Brian, Peter Bafumi and his wife Zolansh, Fabrizio Bafumi, Victoria Kieltyka and her husband Edward, and Salvatore Germano and his fiancée Samantha, her twenty one great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Carmela also leaves behind her sister Rosa Melluzzo and brothers Paolo Campisi and his wife Giuseppa, Vincenzo Campisi and his wife Lina, Giuseppe Campisi, and his wife Tina, sister-in-law Concetta Campisi and numerous extended family and friends in Sicily and the US.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Church of St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 3-6 PM at the funeral home.
