Candida Miranda

Candida Miranda, 89, of New Britain, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024 surrounded by her family at Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was the widow of Flor Miranda.

Born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Rosendo Garcia and Juanita Rodriguez. Candida was a New Britain resident since 1969 and was a faithful member of the Christian Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are her children, Tomas Rivera, Jose Ramon “Cheo” Rivera, Maria Morales, Ramona Rivera, Luis Antonio Rivera, Angel L. Miranda, and Nellie Cordero; her brothers and sisters, Margarita Garcia, Petra Garcia, Gladys Garcia, Ramon Garcia, Ysidro Garcia and Enrique Garcia; many grandchildren (25) and great-grandchildren (30). She also saw her fifth generation born with her great-great-granddaughters, Layla Rodriguez and Avaya Cruz. Candida is also survived by a cousin, Adelaide Escobales; a nephew, Edgardo Casiano; a niece Lydia Casiano and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
