Blanca Iris Valentin

Blanca Iris Valentin, 93, of Middletown, widow of Miguel Angel Valentin, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023.

Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Domingo Mercado and Raphaela Muniz.  Blanca was a former New Britain and Kensington resident before moving to Middletown.  She was formerly employed at Emhart and was a member of St. Mary Church.

Surviving are three children, Marilyn Valentin, Miguel Valentin Jr. and Tommy Valentin; two brothers, Norberto Mercado and Hipolito Mercado; two sisters, Lucy Bou and Frances Millan; four grandchildren, Jazmin Ouellette, Elana Flecha, Maranda Zullo and Giovanni Valentin; and six great-grandchildren, Maliya, Freddie, Nina, Caleb, Jace, and Danielys.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Mary Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
