Betty L. Barnum was born June 13 th , 1959 in Edison, GA and departed this life unexpectedly on November 10, 2021 at the age of 62. Betty was the daughter of Annie and Harold Gainey of Plainville, CT and Tony Barnum of Orlando, FL. She was also a member of Saint James MBC and enjoyed attending services when her health allowed.
Betty attended New Britain High School graduating in 1978 and continued her education at Baker’s College in California. Betty worked in the medical field for over 30 years. She had a phenomenal talent for phlebotomy and was a loving caregiver.
Betty is also survived by her son Leroy Irvin McGil Jr. (Leah Robertson), Plainville, CT and her grandsons, Camden M. McGill and Marcus O. Kiley, which she truly adored.
Other survivors include her siblings, Johnny (Linda) Barnum, New Britain, CT, David Mayes, Plainville, CT, Willie Tyrell Jones, Plainville, CT.
Betty had a special love her aunts; Lillie (Bob) Williams, New Britain, CT, Louise (Herbert) Jefferson, Dorothy “Goldie” (Bernard) Scott, Mauldin, SC and Mattie (Johnny) Booze, her nephew Johnny Turner and a host of cousins, which she held closely to her heart.
For those that knew Betty, she was truly a kindred spirit, she had a big heart and would come to the aide of whomever was in need, with no questions asked.
We will truly miss her beautiful smile, but her loving heart will forever be cherished and live on through the lives of her son, grandchildren who she adored and all who were blessed to have known her.
Rest in love, Queen B.
