Bernard F. “Bernie” Sniadack Jr., 76, of Plainville, Connecticut, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in New Britain, CT to the late Bernard F. Sniadack Sr. and Phyllis (Bailey) Sniadack, he lived a life grounded in faith, strength and quiet devotion.
Bernie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1974, carrying that sense of discipline and loyalty throughout his life. He went on to work in construction with Asal’s Construction Company and DATTCO, where he built not only structures, but a reputation as a hardworking, dependable man who took pride in providing for his family.
He was, by nature, a stubborn man - but in the best way, standing firm in his faith, his values, and his love for those closest to him. Though often quiet, his presence was unmistakable, he made people feel safe and steady just by being near him. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it mattered. Beneath his tough exterior was a deeply kind and gentle soul, guided by his love for Jesus.
Bernie had a passion for motorcycles, especially his Harleys, and cherished the time spent riding with his beloved wife seated behind him. Together, they traveled to beautiful places that reminded them of God’s creation and the beauty of Jesus in their lives.
His greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Gina (Arcari) Sniadack; his children, Bernard “Barry” Sniadack III and Marianne Sniadack, forever his “little girl”; his cherished grandchildren, Avery, Austin and Aubrey, each of whom shared a special and unique bond with him; the father of his grandchildren, Robert (Bobby) Lamontagne; his sisters, Barbara Moran, Beverly Kelley and Carol Postl; his sister-in-law, Gail Correll and her husband, Steve; his brother-in-law, Gary Arcari and his wife, Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, William Sniadack; and his brothers-in-law John Kelley and Kevin Postl, who all welcomed him home.
Bernie poured his faith into his family, especially his grandchildren, reminding them often that they could be anything they wanted to be - but that the greatest thing they could be is kind. His words, “Go with God and be a blessing” will continue to guide all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Life Church, 496 Kensington Road, Berlin, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernie’s memory to Adult and Teen Challenge CT, 39 N. Moodus Road, Moodus CT 06469, or online at tcnewengland.org.
Though he is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace, riding free and resting in the presence of the Lord he loved so deeply.
