Bernard Charles Hummell, 88, of Farmington, husband of Anna Urban Hummell, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna Hummell. Bernard was a former New Britain resident before moving to Farmington in 1953. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was formerly employed as a carpenter, working at UCONN Health center before retiring. Bernard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. Surviving are his wife Anna Urban Hummell, with whom he celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary on August 11, 2009; a daughter, Patrician Schultz and her husband Wayne of Southington; a brother Kenneth Hummell of Florida; and two grandchildren, Michael Schultz and Lisa Schultz. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward and a sister Doris. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial , with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
