Benedicta Rentas

Benedicta Rentas, 38, of New Britain, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of Miguel A. Rentas and Petra E. Miranda Rentas of New Britain. She was a New Britain resident most of her life and was formerly employed as a Medication Adherence Counselor at the Connecticut Positive action Collation. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Pentecostal Church. Benedicta was an upstanding pillar of the community, who touched the hearts of many while attending national family oriented conferences, and through her work at the following agencies: Ryan White Title IV, Conn. Children Medical Center, Conn. Primary Care Association, Conn. Positive Action Coalition, Some Place Special, AIDS Project Hartford, and many other national family oriented agencies In addition to her parents, she is survived by two daughters, Petra M. Rivera and Carmen M. Mercado; a son, Edwin M. Navarro, Jr.; a foster Child, Kevin Matherson; a sister, Edna J. Rentas; a brother, Miguel A. Rentas, Jr.; all of New Britain; her maternal grandmother, Joaquina Miranda of New Britain; her paternal grandfather, Joaquin Rentas of Bristol; her favorite uncle, Miguel Miranda of New Britain, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday beginning at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 7-9 PM.
